Day 1

KNOW

**For more resources to train yourself as a parent, challenge your older children (upper elementary through teens), or to simply go deeper, check out the Bonus>Extra Resources Tab in the app**.
  • Begin your family devo time with a prayer asking God to focus everyone’s attention on Him together.  Feel free to have one of your kids pray!
  • Say this week’s Gospel statement out loud together (in the picture above!)…feel free to have your family say it along with you, or repeat short phrases. Our goal is to memorize this phrase by the end of the week!
  • BIBLE TIME: Read Leviticus 17:11 out loud together.
    • Challenge your children who are old enough to read to follow along in their own physical Bibles.
    • Theological Term of the Day: ATONEMENT — means to make a wrong right

GROW

  • Family Discussion: What does Leviticus 17:11 teach us? Share out loud together*.
    • *Take time to emphasize just a few of these points if you have a distracted audience!*
    • Blood represents life
    • God gave us blood to sacrifice on the altar to make the wrongs of our sins right
  •  Family Discussion: How does the blood of animals sacrificed in the OT point us to Jesus’ sacrifice on the cross?
    • Remember: all the details in the OT (like the animal blood sacrifices in the OT law given by God) are meant to be shadows or dim reflections of the REAL THING (or rather the REAL PERSON!) that we see in Jesus, God the Son in the NT.

GO

  • Take turns praying as a family.  While it may seem kinda gross to think about blood literally having to be shed for our sins, this should show us just how SERIOUS our sins are before God! Romans 6:23a tells us what our sins deserve.  Thank God for His great plan and love toward us in Jesus as His blood was shed for YOUR sin to ATONE (make our wrongs right) for your life.
  • THIS WEEK‘S CHALLENGE: Have each family member share out loud about one person who needs to hear that God is holy and created us to be with Him, our sins separate us from Him,  no good work takes away the stain of sin, but that Jesus paid the price for our sin by dying and rising again!  Take time to pray for each person by name.
  • Have one family member or all re-state today’s Gospel statement: Paying the price for sin, Jesus died & rose again!
  • BONUS OPTION TO CLOSE: Listen & sing along with either “Communion” or “Jesus Paid It All” by our praise team:
